This mask is magnificently carved from a single piece of wood and colored with natural pigments by master carvers from Bobo Diulasso, Burkina Fasso. West Africa. The Bwa (or Bobo) masks are characterized by the geometric designs they use as decoration for the different representations of Sahel animals. For painting they use natural pigments just as their ancestors did.
