African Masks Antiques African Kplé Kplé mask for the Goli dance Hand Carved Wall Hanging-G1454
41.3/21.8 -CM
Splendid Baoulé mask, where we find all the characteristics of the masks of this ethnic group. Hard wood, smooth and shiny patina, neat and prepared hairstyle, radiant face and triangles on either side of the face symbolizing the rays of the sun. The Goli is a one-day show that brings together the whole village. After a day of libations, where millet beer flowed freely, and dances, the Kpan mask came on stage in a very theatrical way, when the assembly was at the height of euphoria. Provenance: collected in situ during a research campaign in the Bouaké region, in 1958, by Alpha Baldé, an antique collector in Conakry
